Pond Comets (Carassius auratus) are a member of the goldfish family. They originate from the common goldfish, which was bred centuries ago in ancient China from the Prussian Carp. Today, Pond Comets are found in many water gardens worldwide.
Pond Comets have orange scales with a long, slender body and a distinct "V" shape to their tail, which is very long and flowing. They range in size from 1.5 inches to as large as 12 inches, and can be red and white, yellow, orange, red, or plain white. You can occasionally find some with black markings, or some that are solid white or solid black. However, most of our Comets are primarily solid orange in color. The most popular variation is the Sarsa Comet which is mainly white with red markings.
Pond Comets are a very active fish, and will often dart around the pond. They are also a very hardy fish, and can survive a freeze. They can grow to nearly 12 inches in length, and typically live between seven and fourteen years!
Our Pond Comets are of high quality and are health certified, so you can rest easy knowing your fish are coming from a clean source.
